A Level AQA OCR A Biology - Genetics | PCR Hardy-Weinberg Genetic Control | Free Lessons by MyUCAT

This year, MyUCAT has been successful in supporting vast numbers of school students from across the UK to attain several offers at medical and dental school. The vast majority of universities offers made by top institutions are conditional - this means that securing an A level offer (typically A*AA or AAA) is the last hurdle in ultimately securing a coveted spot.

This free A level preparation programme in biology, chemistry & mathematics was initially launched in order to ensure that none of our hard-working students faltered at the final hurdle. We have classes taking place on most weekday and weekend evenings, tailored to AQA and OCR A specifications.

In a recent national study of opportunities during COVID-19, it was noted that 32% of students in the highest household income segment were able to access private tuition, compared to only 13% amongst the worst-off. Running a tuition company that is perpetually oversubscribed, I see first hand the substantial impact that our small group and 1-1 lessons can have on supporting students to develop confidence, skills and abilities across subject areas. However, I'm deeply conscious that the advantages we offer to our students are not accessible to all, ultimately entrenching existing inequalities.

We ultimately decided that it would be of greatest social benefit if we opened these free revision sessions up to all students nationwide, including those who we may not have assisted during the university admissions period, or even those not intending to pursue a medical/dental career at all.
