A Level Tuition

Group lessons (new!)

The MyUCAT team has recently expanded to include A level biology and chemistry lessons taught by qualified ex-teachers at leading UK secondary schools. We have now launched a programme of affordable group lessons that can utilise the combined expertise of our medical student and teacher-led teams!

Currently launching on a pilot basis for AQA & OCR A biology (Y13) - £12.50/hour only!

Students can enter under either the 'gradual stream' or the 'fast-paced stream'. In the 'gradual stream,' the focus will be on developing and improving your grades - this would be particularly ideal for any students that are currently working at an A/B grade, or who feel that they would benefit from extra time and support. The 'fast-paced stream' is designed to challenge those who are already one of the top academic performers in their school cohort, getting ahead of your sixth form with topics from the Y13 biology curriculum that may be of particular interest to aspiring medics and dentists.

Students will be allocated into exam-board specific groups of up to 5, and we will group together students from schools that are covering topics in a similar order over the course of this academic year. For the affordable price of just £25/week, your small group of 5 will have access to two sessions each week:

Tutors will not just be showing you past paper questions - the small group format means that we can look at exactly where, how and why you might be going wrong to ensure that you maximise your chances of securing an A* this summer.

Both sessions would be recorded for viewing at a later date, but it is strongly encouraged that these group sessions are attended live. Due to constraints on the number of spaces, those who are persistently absent will be requested to leave the programme to free up places for others.

Bio:

Hey, I’m Amber, a first year Medicine student at University College, Oxford. I come from a state school in the North West of England, so I understand getting into Oxford even though I don’t fit the private school stereotype. Happy to answer questions about medical school admissions as well as tutoring!

Bio:

From experience, I can emphasise the importance of developing a deep understanding of a subject, than memorisation, as well as the value of strong exam technique, in scoring highly. I aim to reflect these principles in my tutoring, and I offer flexibility in my way of teaching to ensure I support my student's learning style.

Hamza

Engineering @ University of Oxford

Bio:

Hey, I'm Hamza! I'm a first year Engineering student at Oxford! I offer tuition in Maths and Physics A levels, and have been doing so at varying levels for the past couple years. Coming from a poorer background, I spent a lot of time going for as many outreach opportunities as possible and as such I have had lots of experience being taught the same topics by different people and universities. This has given me a strong grasp on what it means to understand a topic rather than memorise it, and it comes through in my tutoring!

Bio:

Hi! I’m Arjun, a first year medical student at Oxford offering mentorship in biology, chemistry and maths. Having just been through A-levels and a challenging medical application pathway myself, I understand the challenges that face current students. What got me through this time was the targeted application of deep understanding, review and use of feedback - guidelines I follow when tutoring students in a similar position.
